Pic of the day – A Scent called Library

If I was reading the title without the image, my mind would instantly be sucked back through time and space, into a flurry of images and scents and sounds and tactile memories. Leather bindings dissolving into orange dust on my hands. The delicate cracking of brittle pages being cautiously turned. The cloud of dust arising from pulling a book from a shelf that has not been moved in years, perhaps decades. The warming glow of late afternoon sunlight spilling at a sharp angle into the second floor of the old Dentistry Library.

This very faintly scented “perfume” (from CBIHatePerfrume.com) is designed to be reminiscent of these things. But someone put a bouquet of fresh flowers on the Circulation Desk.
